Jodhpur
is a stone-sculpted city rising out of the golden
sands of Rajasthan. It was founded in 1459 by Rao
Jodha and is now the second largest city in Rajasthan.
The regal heritage of the region is perceptible in the
buildings, the people, the traditions… It is easy to
spend several days experiencing Jodhpur - whether you
choose to visit the daunting forts and palaces -
Mehrangarh, Jaswant Thada or Umaid Bhawan Palace, take
a Jeep safari to nearby villages, or shop for
souvenirs. A good spread of hotels assures a
comfortable stay (Umaid Bhawan Palace, Bal Samand
Palace, Ajit Bhawan, Karni Bhawan, Best Western
Ranbanka and Taj Hari Mahal are some of these), and
the easy connectivity (by air, rail and road) to other
parts of the country makes arriving here easy.
