Powai is a bit like the back of the boondocks where businesslike Mumbai is concerned, but if it is a corporate off-site or a gargantuan convention (the largest convention room can take over 3,000 standing guests) you want to organise or impress your clients or dealers, choose the Renaissance. Its breathtaking views and its setting, amidst 10 acres of landscaped grounds, overlooking the Powai Lake, with the purple-blue Western Ghats in the hazy middle distance, are unrivalled, and it is hard to imagine that the city's chaos begins just outside its gates.
