It
is known as God's Own Country. It was acclaimed by
National Geographic Traveler as one of the 10
paradises of the world. Here, a 600-km long shoreline
beckons you to laze. And then, when the sea flows
inland, it creates a silken network of backwaters - a
charming maze of canals, lagoons, deep green palms,
villages, and rice boats aboard which you can watch
the world float by.
Far inland, is a long chain of lush, mist-clad hills,
punctuated by many cascading waterfalls. And nestled
within the dense forests are 14 wildlife sanctuaries
teeming with natural life. Then there are the remnants
of a maritime history, a royal past; ayurveda, finely
flavoured cuisine… The setting is inspiring for any
brainstorming session; luxuriously furnished
houseboats, tree houses and 'koothambalams (temple
theatres) are ideal for small meetings; authentic
ayurveda packages refresh jaded nerves; an excellent
network of roads and three airports provide adequate
connectivity; and conferencing facilities in hotels
and convention centres fulfil every international
requirement. Truly, Kerala, resting against the
southern seas of India, is one of the hotspots of the
millennium.
