Located in
the Aravalli Hills in Alwar district of Rajasthan,
Sariska is probably one of the most visited parks in
India, due to its proximity to Delhi and Jaipur. Sariska
was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1958 and became a
tiger reserve under ‘Project Tiger’ in1979. Despite not
featuring among the sanctuaries favoured by wildlife
enthusiasts, it is one of the best parks to spot a
number of herbivores at close range. The Kanakwadi Fort
with its splendid scenic view is another good reason to
visit Sariska.
