Transport

Surface
Orient Express has an excellent fleet of buses and coaches, which make travelling on the road many degrees easier. While many important highways in the country have been upgraded of late and your vehicle can cruise an easy 120 km/hr, in the remoter areas you will feel thankful for the well-cushioned, air-conditioned comfort of your mobile home. Highway facilities such as motels, petrol stations and rest rooms are easily available on most stretches.

Rail Network
The Indian Railways network is extensive, and the second largest in the world. It operates nearly 7,800 services a day over a route length of nearly 63,000 km. In fact, if you want to see the country unfold before you, travel by train. You can choose from luxury and tourist-specific trains such as the legendary Palace-on-Wheels and the Royal Orient, the super-fast Rajdhani and Shatbdi trains, the quaint steam-hauled 'toy trains' of the hills and the other, regular trains. Most trains run daily, but tourist and other trains may have a limited schedule.

Domestic flights
Three major domestic airlines fly across the country - the state-owned Indian Airlines (with the largest network), Jet Airways and Sahara Airlines. Smaller ones such as Jagson Airlines and Air Deccan offer limited regional services.
